West African contenders, Ghana will have to face Cape Verde in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations competition in a bid to win the first-ever AFCON title, Bet Extract reports.
The Black Stars are eager to top their humiliating group stage exit from AFCON 2021, while their opponents are hoping to exceed expectations once more. After transferring from an upper management position to the dugout last year, veteran manager Hughton has found it difficult to steer Ghana on the correct path.
They are no longer in the top 60 in the world rankings on the eve of the AFCON after three losses in five games, including a goalless draw with Namibia to prepare for this tournament. They will, however, be expected to start strong in Ivory Coast against a Cape Verde team that advanced to the Cup of Nations semifinals.

The West Ham United player, Mohammed Kudus, who shone in Qatar, is expected to lead the team as they look to repeat as champions after winning the title in 1982.
Ghana had to do better to avoid the early exits they experienced in 2019 (they were eliminated in the round of 16) and the group phase departure they experienced in the previous edition (they finished fourth in their division without winning).
In the match on Sunday, Cape Verde need not worry; if they prepare well, the Blue Sharks are the kind of team that can give the Black Stars trouble.
