Guinea-Bissau VS Nigeria: Super Eagles meet with the Djurtus

Nigeria’s super eagles will be faced with Guinea-Bissau Djurtus in their final group-stage encounter of the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 (AFCON) at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny on Monday, Bet Extract reports.

Guinea-Bissau was eliminated from the competition after losing their opening two group-round matches. Following a 2-0 defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in the opening round of the competition, Equatorial Guinea thrashed them 4-2.

Following a 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea in their season opener, the 2013 winners Nigeria overcame hosts Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 on Thursday thanks to a superb showing. In the fifty-fiveth minute, captain William Troost-Ekong scored the game’s lone goal from the penalty spot.

The only way the Super Eagles miss out on the knockout stage is if they lose this game and Cote d’Ivoire wins instead of Equatorial Guinea.

For Guinea-Bissau, despite no hope in sight of making it to the next round, the Djurtus will be looking to end their winless run at the AFCON and would cherish the chance of winning against the Super Eagles whom they defeated in the AFCON qualifiers in 2023.

Guinea-Bissau Djurtus have participated in the AFCON group stage for the past four years, although they haven’t won any of the games yet. They have reached the back of the net this time around and will try to finish the competition with another goal after failing to score in the 2019 and 2021 editions.

They are anticipated to put up a strong fight in this encounter because they have never lost all three of their group-stage matches at the AFCON.
