Super Eagles, the senior men’s football team from Nigeria, lost 2-0 to Guinea in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday, January 8, in a pre-Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) friendly, Bet Extract reports.
Two practice matches for the Super Eagles were organised by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in advance of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to begin on Saturday, January 13, in Cote d’Ivoire.
Before the continental tournament began, the matches were meant to assess the team’s technical proficiency.
On Sunday, January 6, they played their first game against AI Gharbia FC, a local team based in the United Arab Emirates. They crushed their opponents 12-0. It was a walk in the park.

Ademola Lookman scored four goals, and Moses Simon and Victor Osimhen each scored a brace to round out the scoring.
The home team’s two own goals and goals from captain Ahmed Musa and Sadiq Umar completed the dozen-goal total.
The Super Eagles’ dominating strategies against Guinea proved ineffective the next day, despite their convincing victory on Sunday.
William Troost-Ekong, who was captaining the team against Guinea, made a return, and Stanley Nwabali, a custodian based in South Africa, filled in.
However, Aguibou Camara gave Guinea the lead in the game’s 14th minute of play.
The Super Eagles persevered in bringing the score back to par. When Real Sociedad attacker Sadiq Umar was knocked down in the box, their tenacity cleared the path.
